Before you book Antarctica Expedition.
When is the Antarctic season?
November to March only. November brings pristine ice and courting penguins; December–January has 20-hour daylight and penguin chicks; February–March is peak whale watching. Outside these months the sea ice closes the peninsula.
Do I have to cross the Drake Passage?
Not necessarily. Classic voyages sail the Drake from Ushuaia (2 days each way — part of the rite of passage), while fly-cruise itineraries jump it in a 2-hour flight to King George Island. We match the route to your appetite for adventure.
How do landings and wildlife encounters work?
Our partner vessels are IAATO members: maximum 100 guests ashore at a time, twice-daily Zodiac landings or cruises, 5-metre wildlife distances and strict biosecurity. Expect penguin rookeries, seals on ice floes and breaching humpbacks — with expert polar guides at your side.
